Because witchcraft isn’t only about those heightened moments when we are casting spells, celebrating sabbats, or working with the moon, I want to share a glimpse into my everyday life as a witch, what a typical day looks like, and how I experience witchcraft in each moment.
From morning coffee rituals to wicked storms and spirit animals, read on to discover how I bring magick into the rhythm of my days so you can begin to do the same in yours.
You see, it’s all about seeing the world through a witch’s eyes – your eyes. That is how the mundane becomes magickal. It is an intentional mindset. Your witchy world does not just happen. It is created by you and shaped by the power of your thoughts and emotions.
So yes, I love celebrating the sabbats with magick, gathering with kindred souls, and marking the turning of the seasons with ritual. I also love crafting carefully planned spells with specially chosen correspondences and casting them in perfect cosmic timing aligned with planetary, astrological, and zodiacal energies.
Even more meaningful to me are the spontaneous moments when magick happens right in the moment. It could be guiding a baby deer off the side of the highway with an impromptu chant and the wave of my hand. Or, cloaking the trees outside my window and the animals within them with my protection against the whipping winds of a wicked storm.
But truthfully, the greater portion of my life as a witch happens in the quieter, simpler moments. These are the threads that form the tapestry of everyday witchcraft: the conscious choices, the small acts, and the ways I experience the world through the lens of witchcraft.
It is how our ancestor witches, the folk healers and magicians of centuries past, practiced. Their craft was consciously interwoven with daily life. They lived, responded, and engaged with the energies and happenings of the world as they arose. This is how I practice, too.
At the heart of my craft is the understanding that everything is energy. The earth, the cosmos, our bodies, our thoughts, our emotions, the food we eat, the wind through the trees, and Divinity itself. Every moment is an opportunity to engage with energy consciously and magickally.
When I am not planning or celebrating sabbats, working with lunar cycles, or crafting spells, here is what everyday witchcraft looks like for me.
Even through a window, I stop to notice the sapphire sky, snow-covered branches, the acrobatics of squirrels, or the flight of hawks, crows, and ravens. These pauses deepen my connection to nature.
Our personal energy is the source of our health, power, and effective magick. Each day I tend this current through bodywork and energy practices such as Jin Shin, reiki, yoga, centering, grounding, shielding, meditation, and the methods I teach in Way of the Witch.
Some days I cleanse myself with sustainably sourced white sage or palo santo. This releases negative thoughts and emotions and invites positive ones to take their place. Your thoughts and emotions form the sum total of your energy. Together they are the frequency shapes both your life and your magick.
This work may seem subtle, but it is the heart of the Craft. At least as I practice and teach it. Without balance, your energy current falters. With balance, it flows steady and strong, keeping you both grounded and empowered.
Protecting my energy means guarding my sovereignty and remaining conscious of how I respond to negativity. I don’t blindfold myself to the truth, but neither do I surrender my power by spiraling into obsession over problems. Instead, I take in what I need in small, deliberate doses, contribute where I can (often through offerings of money), and keep my current of energy flowing in alignment.
Your way may be different. Perhaps your magick takes the form of activism, protest, or fundraising. If so, walk that path with passion, but always with balance, so your fire fuels you rather than consumes you. Because when the fires of outrage or grief burn without rest, they deplete your strength and weaken your magick.
To me, true sovereignty lies in refusing to let the world’s chaos dictate my inner landscape. It means choosing when and how I engage, and reclaiming my energy again and again. This practice doesn’t make me less aware—it makes me more effective. It allows me to live fully, act with purpose, and keep my power intact as both a person and a witch.
Each day I open myself to messages from the unseen—whether through the flight of birds, the sudden appearance of an animal omen, or a simple pull of an oracle card. These small acts of divination keep me attuned to the whispers of spirit and the currents of energy moving around me. It is less about predicting the future and more about entering into dialogue with the world, listening for guidance in the patterns, symbols, and synchronicities that arise.
Cooking is one of my deepest joys, and also one of the most potent ways I practice witchcraft. Every meal becomes a spell because food, like all things, is energy, and what you place into your body sustains both life and magick.
I choose my ingredients with care, eating as cleanly and organically as possible, avoiding processed and fast foods, and staying mindful of where and how my food is sourced. Sustainability is key. Just as I do my best to ensure that the botanicals and crystals I work with are sustainably and ethically sourced, I approach the food that nourishes me in the same way.
The true essence of kitchen witchery lies in transforming the simple act of preparing a meal into an offering, a focused intention, and a ritual of connection to both self and Spirit. Every stir, every chop, every sprinkle of herb infuses the dish with power, nourishing body, spirit, and magick alike.
My mornings begin with a simple yet sacred act: my coffee ritual. I sit at one of my altars, whether in my bedroom, living room, or magick room, and sip slowly as I greet the day. Often, I’ll quietly play my favorite witchy or sound-healing music, letting the vibrations fill the space while I set intentions for the hours ahead.
As I gaze out the window, nature always offers something to behold: a glorious sunrise rising from beneath the mountain ridge, the crows cawing from the pine trees, mist rising from the valley, the soft rhythm of rain against the glass, or, on the most enchanting mornings, a gentle snowfall.
Once I feel more awake, I do my energy work which is the foundation of my witchcraft practice, and which these days consists of yoga, Shin Jin (hands-on energy healing), meditation, centering, grounding, shielding, and healing sound frequencies. Some days I pull an oracle or tarot card for guidance.
If it’s a workday, I shift into my role at The Magickal Path writing newsletters, replying to emails, and meeting one-on-one with my students (always the best part of my day!). I do my best to maintain a four-day workweek to preserve a healthy work–life balance, which usually means stepping back from posting on social media for the business in order to maintain this work schedule, and also to stay centered, creative, and fully present for both my students and myself.
On days off from work, I might wander to the local farm for lunch, savoring not only the treats served in the café-barn but also the pastoral scenery, with mountains rising in the distance, ponies grazing in the fields, and free-roaming chickens wandering about. Some days are spent with my husband as we discover new adventures together. Other times, I walk, sit, read, or meditate by the lake near my house (pictured below). I also spend time with friends exploring new places, the countryside, witchy shops, and attending local magickal and social events that inspire me.
Conservation is something that we as witches and pagans must be keenly aware of. Our witchcraft, magick and healing practices are heavily intertwined with the energies of the Earth. How can we dare to tap into these energies and use them to aid us in our practices if we have no respect for them?
Each month, I give to conservation and compassion causes that are closest to my heart—most especially my local wolf sanctuary, the Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem, NY. The wolf is my spirit animal, and I have a deep, instinctive love for them. I feel called to help protect and preserve these magnificent beings. I do this through talking to others about them (as I’m doing now) and through financial assistance. Financial offerings to causes that speak to my soul are, for me, a magickal ritual of gratitude and a way to give back for the many blessings I have in my life while also making a difference.
Wolves are endangered, and some species in the wild now stand on the very brink of extinction. The red wolf in North Carolina, USA, is one such case, with about eighteen individuals remaining. Just eighteen red wolves left in the entire world because of human cruelty and ignorance. My pagan heart and the witch within me find this both heartbreaking and utterly reprehensible.
This is why I give to trusted foundations that are actively reintroducing wolf pups into struggling wild populations (this is in part, what wolf pups are bred for at the Wolf Conservation Center). It’s beautiful how a wild mamma wolf will accept a wolf pup that is placed into her den while she is away from it, and upon her return will then raise it alongside the rest of her litter with the same care, devotion and love.
Below is a photo of beautiful Nikkai, a gray wolf and one of the three public-facing ‘ambassadors’ at the Wolf Conservation Center. Most of the center’s wolves live wild and unseen behind the tall gates of the property, so it’s always a thrill to catch a glimpse when they wander close. Words can hardly capture the feeling of standing so near to a wolf—the air itself seems to hum with ancient power in their presence.
But nothing compares to hearing a wolf’s howl. That primordial sound vibrates through your entire being. And of course, I can never resist throwing back my head and howling along. It’s pure, wild exhilaration to howl along with a wolf that is standing just feet away! It’s a moment of connection that feels both primal and profound.
As evening settles in, the kitchen witch in me takes the lead. I prepare a nourishing dinner for my husband and myself, stirring intention into every dish. This shared meal is more than food—it is a spell of connection, a ritual of love, and a beautiful way to close the day.
On days when my chronic conditions require gentleness (yes, even witches have medical conditions as part of our human experience), I honor my body’s need to rest. My home itself becomes my sanctuary: twinkle lights glowing softly, candles flickering, ethereal music drifting in the background, and enchanted décor evoking the feel of a cottage nestled in a forest. In this environment, even when my body falters, my spirit finds ease.
Even when difficult times arise, when bad things happen, my mind always shifts into magickal thinking. I ask myself, Why is this happening? What is the lesson in this? Is there a karmic story at play that I must work through? Might this be part of my Divine Blueprint, or is this the result of another’s poor choices and free will?
Then I ask, How will I solve this or move through this for my highest good? What magick could I work to support the situation?
It is during the challenging times that I lean deeply into my witchcraft practice and draw upon the wisdom I have gained over many years of walking this path. These are the moments that remind me why I practice, and why living a magickal life makes all the difference.
Through it all—morning, midday, and evening—I practice mindfulness. I remain aware of my thoughts, knowing they shape my emotions, which in turn shape my energy and my magick. I consciously choose joy, presence, and balance. Of course, some days bring greater challenges than others. When heavy emotions rise, I allow myself to feel them fully, then release them, returning once more to equilibrium.
And of course, like anyone else, I tend to the mundane chores that keep life in motion. Yet even in the sweeping of floors or the folding of laundry, I bring my magickal mindset. These ordinary tasks transform into acts of devotion when approached with intention, turning the everyday into something sacred.
At the heart of it all, my daily practice is about tending the currents of thought and emotion, for they are the wellspring of energy and the foundation of both magick and happiness.
Every thought I think and every feeling I allow shapes the frequency I carry into the world. This is why I choose joy, balance, and presence again and again. When heavy emotions rise, I let them move through me like a passing storm, releasing what no longer serves and returning to stillness.
I hope this glimpse into my daily life shows you that witchcraft is not only about spells and rituals, it is about how you choose to move through every moment.
More than anything, witchcraft is a mindset. It is the decision to see the world through witch’s eyes to:

Once you learn to see the world through the eyes of a witch, the ordinary begins to shimmer with meaning. Each sunrise, each breath, each small act becomes a reflection of living magick, and every moment becomes sacred.

So I ask you:
No matter who you are or what your situation is, you absolutely can ‘live everyday witchcraft’ in a way that is meaningful to you. Ask your questions and post your ideas below. I personally reply to every post.
